Art meets science in this new painting.

The hummingbird and flower are painted on top of a layered collage made from pages of Werner’s Nomenclature of Colors, a historic color reference used by scientists and naturalists long before modern color systems existed.

I love the idea that the same colors used to describe minerals, birds, plants, and landscapes centuries ago are now part of the foundation of this piece. The hummingbird hovering over the flower feels like a bridge between observation and imagination, between cataloging the natural world and celebrating its beauty through art.

Layer by layer, the scientific language of color becomes a living scene again.
