Handprints Through Time

(Custom dandelion paintings created from the handprints of loved ones)

Some moments feel too important to let slip away.

A parent’s hand. A grandparent’s touch. The tiny hand of a child. The hands that have comforted, guided, worked, created, and loved throughout a lifetime.

Handprints Through Time was created to preserve those fleeting moments in a beautiful and meaningful work of art.

The process begins with creating a handprint impression using modeling paste, capturing the unique shape, lines, and character of a loved one’s hand. Once the impression has dried, I transform it into a custom dandelion painting, using the palm of the hand as the center of the bloom and allowing the handprint to become part of the artwork itself.

The finished piece is subtle and elegant. While the original handprint becomes woven into the composition, its presence remains quietly embedded within the painting, creating a deeply personal detail that reveals itself over time.

Each painting is completely unique and designed specifically for the individual or family it represents. Whether created to celebrate a child, honor a parent or grandparent, commemorate a special season of life, or preserve the touch of someone dearly loved, these paintings serve as lasting reminders of the connections that matter most.

How It Works

  1. A handprint impression is created using modeling paste.
  2. The impression is allowed to fully cure and harden.
  3. I create a custom dandelion painting using the handprint as the foundation of the design.
  4. Your finished artwork is sealed, ready to display, and delivered to you as a one-of-a-kind Time Capsule piece.

Each Handprint Through Time painting is created with care, intention, and the belief that some moments deserve to be preserved forever. There are two sizes available for this option. Reach out for additional sizes.

The Story Behind This Inspiration

In 2015, I lost my dear friend Kathy to lung cancer. Kathy had never smoked a day in her life. She was a healthy, happy, joyful soul. During her final days, I gently pressed her hand into modeling paste onto three canvases. On each canvas, I overlapped the hands of each of her three children. I later turned these imprints into individual dandelion paintings, her fingers becoming soft, golden seeds, forever in motion. A wish of sorts.

Since then, I’ve created “handprint dandelion paintings” for others walking through hospice care or with memory loss for someone they love. Each one is deeply personal. A final wish and a lasting imprint. A symbol of memory, love, and quiet strength. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this sacred moment.
