I’m not a great blogger but I promise I am working on being more prolific. I tend to keep a million things inside my head but don’t put them down as often as necessary. My initial thoughts are that “no one is reading my blog anyway, so why does it matter if I update it?” My secondary thoughts are that “no one may be reading my blog anyway, so why not write down my thoughts so at least I can keep them in order for myself.” So here we go. Three things I am working on in my studio:
- WHEELS: I am focusing on bikes. I have done all sorts of wheels but am now really loving that bikes cross all cultures, ages, countries, generations, races & have no boundaries to their connection with all people in all walks of life. I am painting bikes with a Jasper Johns meets Nancy Joyce feel. I love the Americana pop art connection in them and hope this transgresses into feelings of emotion and movement within my paintings. I am hoping to complete a huge one this week, just in time for 4th of July and the 2012 Tour De France.
- WILDFLOWERS: I’m having a difficult time naming this series. I want to call them, “The Celebration of the Weed” but my family tells me that this is implying something other than painting dandelions & Queen Anne’s Lace and that no one will want to buy a weed painting with these sorts of innuendos. My goal is to glorify the weed; the unwanted. I am aiming to show perspectives of weeds that can be appreciated rather than as a nuisance to people. If I call them “wildflowers” they already seem to be appreciated but if I refer to them as “weeds” they have an immediate adverse affect on people so that I can then visually change their auditory perspective. Thoughts on this??

- TACTILES: These guys really have a lot of bandwidth. They are fully customizable according to the collector’s affinity. Whether it be sports related, garden related, book related, etc. I am excited about their progression and am getting the cost of my wood, steel & magnets down as much as possible so that I can turn them over for others to enjoy. I am painting and distributing these to doctor’s waiting rooms, dentist’s waiting rooms, law firm lobbies, school classrooms and nursing home community rooms. I am offering TacTiles to them for purchase to keep in the areas listed above. If they create a sale from a client or patient from their purchased TacTile for another TacTile of mine, I give 15% of the sale back to the facility in which is was referred. Okay…so there they are, my pent-up painting thoughts! I hope to keep this going and am hoping to post more in the next few days. Who cares if no one is reading this, at least I am writing.
