My “Bicyclette” series was completed in 2015. This series was painted to honor underprivileged young girls in Cambodia. Without bicycles, they have to walk on foot several miles to arrive at their schools. During these long treks, these girls risk their lives and their safety. The bicycle is a literal and figurative means to empowerment and education. At the end of November, I had the opportunity to travel to Cambodia for a ceremony where I was able to provide over 250 all-terrain bicycles to young girls in remote Cambodian villages because of the sale of my artwork. Bikes = education.
